Description: For a given chromaticity (defined by xy coordinates), there is a maximum relative luminosity that is physically attainable. The relative luminosity is the percentage of light that an object colour reflects, measured with respect to the photopic luminous efficiency curve for the CIE standard observer. A colour attaining this maximum is called an optimal colour. Optimal colours depend on the illuminant chosen. This file lists optimal colours for illuminant D65. The data in this file are taken from Table II(3.7), on pp. 778-779 of [Wyszecki1982]. Two colours have been added, because they are helpful in calculations. These are theoretical black, given by xyY = (0,0,0), and pure white, given by xyY = (0.3127, 0.3290, 100). (0.3127, 0.3290) is the chromaticity of illuminant D65. Theoretical black (an object colour of zero reflectance) does not attain maximum luminosity, but it is optimal in the sense that it is on the boundary of the Rosch colour solid.
